Hi, I'm Emily. It's nice to meet you. Thank you for visiting my site.
A SHORT INTRODUCTION: I am currently a sophomore at James Madison University here in Harrisonburg, VA. I am pursing a degree in Accounting (B.B.A. major) with a concentration in Computer Information Systems. In addition, I also plan to minor in Economics, as I have thoroughly enjoyed my prerequisite coursework in this subject, and have developed a passion for it. Last summer, I worked full time as an intern/registration clerk for ACE (Adult and Community Education), which is part of the Fairfax County Public School System. I was rehired over my academic winter break, and plan to work there again this summer, with additional (financial) responsibilities. I look forward to assisting with balancing the daily fiscal records at the end of each day. Next semester (Fall 2005), I have been accepted into JMU’s College of Business. I am excited about enrolling in my junior-level business coursework, COB 300, which is required by all B.B.A. majors. Beginning in fall semester 2005, this 12-credit upper-level class integrates the functional business principles of management, finance, operations, and marketing. I also plan on taking an additional 3-credit accounting class next semester (“Accounting Technology”), which will bring my semester credit total to 15. The COB 300 class is structured to allow students to work together in assigned teams. During the semester, each group develops an authentic real-world business plan, and simulates the implementation of their “corporation”. At the end of the semester, all the groups compete against each other for various awards, recognition, and prizes. I plan to continue on my 5-year preparatory track of completing 150 hours of college coursework required by Virginia to sit for the CPA exam. Completing this extra academic year would enable me to receive a “Masters of Accountancy” degree. I also am considering pursuing a Master’s of Business Administration degree. In addition to maintaining my intellectual health, I stay physically fit by frequently using the University Recreation Center for my own personalized workouts. This includes participating in all types of Group Fitness Classes, as well as using the exercise equipment. I have found multitasking to be a critical part of my success and happiness. I try to make efficient use of my time by simultaneously reading and running (or walking) on the treadmill. With so much schoolwork to do and activities to participate in, time management is essential for success in my daily student life. Please sit back, relax, peruse the web page, and get to know me a little bit better!
